RH850/P1L-C Group Released as Low-End Models in the RH850/P1x-C Series

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced four new RH850/P1L-C Group of microcontrollers (MCUs). The RH850/P1L-C Group is designed for use in chassis and safety systems, such as anti-lock brake and airbag systems, as well as compact motor control systems. The RH850/P1L-C is a low-end MCU Group that is part of the RH850/P1x-C Series of Safety MCUs that meets the requirements for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in one stop.

Driver assistance systems have increased in sophistication and performance as effort have continued toward the realization of autonomous-driving vehicles, thereby coordinating control with other vehicle control units has become essential. With regard to chassis systems, the need for coordination with ADAS has brought an increase in the volume of information from sensors and, combined with high-speed communication functionality, created demand for more powerful information processing capabilities.

2016.12.13  Renesas Electronics Delivers First Battery Management IC Solutions with Integrated Microcontroller and Large Current Support in Response to Accelerated Adoption of Lithium-Ion Batteries in Industrial Equipment

Support Up to Ten Cells with a Maximum Capacity of 50 V and Simplify Safe Battery Management with Extensive Support Tools

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced two new battery management IC solutions for lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable batteries used in industrial equipment, such as electric power tools and E-bikes (bicycles incorporating electric motors). The solutions based on the RAJ240090, supporting three to eight cells, and RAJ240100, supporting three to ten cells, simplify the design of industrial battery management systems, providing a high degree of safety.

The new solutions support up to ten cells for a maximum 50V capability and are Renesas’ first battery management solutions for Li-ion batteries supporting industrial applications.

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced its successful development of the world’s first (Note 1) split-gate metal-oxide nitride oxide silicon (SG-MONOS, Note 2) flash memory cells employing transistors with fin-shape for use in microcontrollers (MCUs) with on-chip flash memory having a circuit linewidth of 16 to 14 nanometer (nm) or finer. SG-MONOS technology is reliable for use in automotive applications and Renesas currently mass produces 40nm MCUs using this technology, and 28nm MCUs are under development. The successful development shows promising scalability of the SG-MONOS technology to 16/14nm process nodes and beyond.

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced a highly automated driving (HAD) solution kit that delivers high computing performance targeted at automotive functional safety to reduce development time of electronic control units (ECUs). The HAD solution kit is based on two Renesas R-Car H3 Starter Kit Premier and the automotive control RH850/P1H-C microcontroller (MCU), and therefore is compliant with both ISO 26262 ASIL-B functionality safety standard and ISO 26262 ASIL-D standard (Note 1). The new solution kit enables system developers to immediately evaluate functions and software in an environment that is similar to the actual development of ECUs, thereby reduces developers’ time and efforts when porting software to the actual ECUs.
